Interview with Dr. Epstein.
Neways During the conference in Prague in 2000, Dr. Samuel Epstein, president of the International Association for the Prevention of Cancer, Professor of Medicine at Illinois Medical Center in Chicago, winner of the "Contribution to the better life" (known as the Alternative Nobel Prize), gave an exclusive interview for the magazine company Neways, Prime Time.
IN: Professor, what purpose it was created for the association?
Samuel Epstein: In recent years the number of cancer patients has risen so much that this has become a problem all over the world. In developed European countries, the risk of disease for men is 50%, and that concerns women - every third one is exposed to such danger. Basically, the danger is everywhere: in food, in cosmetics, household items and even the surrounding environment. In this regard, the main purpose of our association is to inform people how to prevent cancer.
IN: What is the cause of this situation?
Samuel Epstein: Now the scientific literature is full of information on the causes of cancer, but, unfortunately, this information does not reach the general public. I am informed that only those working in industry, government officials and institutions, and that's only because they deal with the question of cancer. Ones that are felt - Smokers. But people who get cancer due to smoking is only a small percentage of all patients. Unfortunately, many do not know that cancer can be caused by consumer products.
There are three main classes of these products:
- The first of these is the food and beverages;
- The second - the goods that we use for the home (cleaning agents, chemicals);
- The third - all the things that people can use for the care of her skin and body cosmetics, perfumes, shampoos, etc..
worth noting that just the products for personal hygiene, most of which are produced by well-known companies in the world, have a huge amount of carcinogens. Of course, there is an exemption on the market, which is a great company of multi-level Neways. In its products there is no ingredient that would have at least an assumption that could cause cancer.

IN: But it is also true that on almost all products are listed in the ingredients, and every consumer knows what they are buying. Why so far dangerous products are so in demand?
Samuel Epstein: Yes, indeed, on all packages of personal care products include a list of ingredients, but the fact is that these lists are useless and incomprehensible to people ill-informed. The ingredients that are listed on the packaging are always many and if a person is not a chemist, can not even imagine what dangers lead because if these ingredients are used separately do not carry the danger. Businesses do not indicate whether the ingredients are harmful or not.
For example, we know that many women who use talcum powder after bathing. We have three very important studies, which show that the use of talc increases the risk of cancer 3 times. What do you think when a woman sees a strange name for a ingredient on the packaging? Absolutely nothing. She has no idea that this substance may be carcinogenic.
So, I could make so many examples that relate to cancer detection, but this is not the worst. Because there are many substances that we call hidden carcinogens. Here the danger is more serious, because if consumers, the most curious, want to know details about the substances that are present in their products and will go see some manuals or toxicological properties of chemicals, do not find anything negative about these ingredients. In fact, if you use these substances separately they do not carry the danger. These substances are divided
into 3 groups:
Substances in the first group - if they are used alone are not harmful, but in the case of interaction with other substances form compounds very dangerous. One such substance is lanolin, a product derived from sheep's wool. What the consumer thinks when he sees this ingredient? He thinks: "sheep's wool - it's a good thing, so the lanolin obtained from sheep's wool - is also a good thing." The consumer does not know that there are different levels of cleaning the wool, which often arises when the link with pesticides, which consumes the sheep along with the grass.
When substances such as polyethylene glycol (PEG), alcohol and polysorbate working together, form a chemical compound called dioxin. In theory, this substance can be removed from all products through the processing in a vacuum. But the only company that removes all the ingredients of this kind is the Neways. Only this company ensures that dioxins are not present in its products.
Another group of hidden carcinogens are substances which putrefacciano, creating well as new compounds. These ingredients can be concealed in bottles or putrefy in your skin and create new substances. And it is these substances (carcinogens) that your body absorbs quickly.
The third group of hidden carcinogens is called "precursors" - are those that in themselves are not cancerous, but may be the first steps towards cancer. Two drugs of this kind are DEA and TEA. Both substances are different forms of nitrate. By the mid '70s, our studies have shown that the interaction of different active ingredients with nitrates DEA and TEA form nitrosamines. Already in 1978-79 all the leading companies engaged in the manufacture of products for personal hygiene, they knew that nitrosamines are very harmful. It's been more than 20 years and DEA and TEA are still widely used by all the leading companies in all products for personal care. There is only one company that does not make use of these harmful substances - the Neways company.
IN: What's the solution?
Samuel Epstein: The solution is this: every company must indicate in red the ones that are considered carcinogenic ingredient hidden or discovered, those that can cause cancer or that are the precursors of cancer. So everything will be honest and fair.
IN: If you specify any one of these companies in an honest and fair all the caveats of which you speak, this means their direct withdrawal. No company will not. Samuel Epstein: You have to use the products that you already know, the quality of which may occur. In other words, if you know that certain products are not good for you, you should stop using them. We in America already see the success of those decisions: the consumption of these products in the United States has decreased by 20%. We see a very big change in the mindset of our consumers who are looking for an alternative to buying products that contain fewer carcinogens and are less harmful. And, of course, the numbers have increased.
