John is single and lives with his elderly mother, a little 'very possessive and tyrannical, in a Rome apartment. Awarded as Best Debut in Venice, Mid-August Lunch (Gianni Di Gregorio - 2008) is designed around a charming cast of actors, with the pace and the manner of French comedy, and peppered with small doses of cynicism look a bit ' Leconte . Despite the many comic situations, happiness is only superficial and makes her way quickly a feeling of insecurity, uncertainty of tomorrow, and the feeling that they remain only as memories of the past to cling to deal with everyday life. Very few outdoor sequences, among which the splendid ride by motorbike to the deserted streets of Rome in search of something to preparing the table of the feast day. Just a shame that is unlikely to be fully understood and appreciated outside of Italy " big babies."
