To Be a Rock and not to roll

After documentary with Al Gore on global warming, Guggenheim turns to lighter topics and It Might Get Loud ( Davis Guggenheim - 2008) brings together three guitarists of three different generations to talk about their experience with the tool symbol of rock music. There are Jimmy Page, Led Zeppelin, The Edge, aka David Evans of U2, and Jack White of White Stripes. Giving from the beginning to the structure of classical music documentary, made of cut and thrust and rigid chronological sequence, the three players leave a lot of freedom and only rarely hears the voice of the interviewer. Alterna moments as a group, during which we see often in memorable performances collective to individual moments in which each lives the most interesting moments of his career. These are often shot in the places of origin, from the infancy of White Detroit, at Mount Temple School in Dublin, where U2 were born, the Victorian mansion where Zeppelin recorded the (monumental) fourth album. From the directorial point of view, not bad the headlines and the opening sequence with Jack White dealing with a rudimentary guitar, as well as short clips to the first instrument dedicated to each. The rest are pictures and videos archive, mounted so wise. Among the curious things you discover that Page was young he wanted to become a biologist. Fortunately he changed his mind. A must for fans of rock music.
