Catchy Church Phrases

Flashback

back at the posts of the past few months I realized that this blog is taking a turn too commercial American cinema, new releases, limited attention paid to lesser-known films to the public. And then so be it East of the Romanian Bucharest (Corneliu Porumboiu - 2008): In a town not far from the unspecified capital, they debate whether it is really been a revolution 89, the one that led to the fall of Ceausescu. What we seek to understand is if people took to the streets either before or after the flight of the dictator from Bucharest. In asking this question is the star, television director, who organizes a talk show involving two unlikely characters as witnesses. After a first part very didactic and maybe even a little 'wordy, the film is at its best in the second part, when it merges with the program, in a crescendo of grotesque situations and hilarious actions of the audience at home. Eventually the question will not answer. Despite the appearance of light, is able to convey the awkwardness of a people to confront their recent history. The direction is nimble in the changes of register, from the ironic melancholy, from news to fiction. Beautiful in their symmetry of the opening and closing sequences.
