Two brothers grappling with some minor economic problem they decide to make a difference to their lives planning a coup in a small suburban jewelry. But the chore easy and clean was a disaster, dragging them to a series of unexpected complications. In 83 years, Lumet directs with the energy of a rookie, giving the film an elegant style that combines originality and wisdom directing (the unforgettable sequence that starts from the detail of the picture in the paper to expand the funeral scene). Honor your father and mother ( Sidney Lumet - 2007) is constructed with a series of interlocking flashbacks and overlapping that point a bit 'a very Rashomon and The Killing. But it is in fine psychological analysis of the actors that the director of That Dog Day Afternoon shows his great talent, also supported by an excellent cast of actors (especially Hoffmann, already 'seen in The 25th Hour). There are a couple of brilliant supporting characters, the drug dealer and the old eastern diamond dealer who raise the film above average. The photo and 'very cold, sometimes overexposed, a Manhattan with a thousand faces. The Italian title is not too alternative, but the original was certainly more intriguing. Too bad it is viewed from the second row, so next time I learn to get to the cinema delay.
